Concrete Removal & Replacement 101: What's Actually Involved Near Frankfort
Tear-out isn't just breaking up old concrete. Permitting, hauling, base prep and disposal all happen before the new pour. Here's the real scope of a concrete removal and replacement job.
When old concrete has to go, the demolition is the easy part. The job people underestimate is everything around it — permitting, hauling off the debris, fixing the base, and getting the new slab poured on ground that's actually ready. Here's how a concrete removal and replacement job actually runs around Frankfort, Ohio.
Permitting first
Depending on the town and the scope — driveway, sidewalk, foundation — a permit may be required. We'll tell you what your project needs and, unless we agree otherwise in writing, the property owner handles approvals; we handle the concrete.
Tear-out and haul-off
We break the old slab, load it, and haul the debris off-site. Concrete isn't something you leave in a pile by the shed. A clean removal means the new slab isn't poured over broken chunks of the old one.
Fix the base
Whatever caused the old concrete to fail — poor drainage, soft spots, tree roots — has to be addressed before the new pour. Skimping on base prep is how you end up replacing the same slab twice.
Pour on a clean base
Once the base is compacted and graded, forming, pouring and finishing happen the same way as a new install. The difference is the new concrete starts on ground that's actually ready for it.
